Welcome to the North Ridgeville Office for Older Adults (Senior Center) where all our "Young at Heart" seniors gather for an abundance of activities! We offer delicious low-cost meals, plenty of smiling faces, and an activity to suit any personality. Men's Breakfast Men's Breakfast Schedule
It’s a wonderful morning of friendship at our Men’s Breakfast. If you are 55 or older, join us at 9 AM for a hot entrée, coffee, fruit cup, and juice are all included for $4.
 
Ladies Brunch Ladies Brunch Schedule
Ladies brunch is held monthly and includes entertainment along with a hot entrée, fruit, juice and coffee for only $4.

Walking Warriors Walking Warriors Every Tuesday
This is an informal walking group that meets weekly. This year we are mixing up the locations. All paces are welcome–no one gets left behind. If the weather is looking questionable, please call (440) 490-2056 to find out if we are still meeting.

Disc Golf Disc Golf
Join us for disc golf at 10:30 a.m. on May 23 and June 25. Disc Golf is a fun, inexpensive self-paced healthy outdoor activity. Meet at the center and we will walk over to South Central Park as a group. Please note that disc golf requires a moderate amount of walking, some of which will be on uneven or possibly muddy terrain. Participants should wear athletic shoes. Equipment and instruction will be provided. We will be playing from the Senior Tees so you won’t miss lunch! RSVP by May 22 and June 23 respectively.
 
Paint & Sip Paint & Sip, May 20, 2024
Join Karen Staszko for another popular paint & sip class on May 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Cost is $15. Come early for a soup lunch at 12:15 PM for $2. Registration by May 17 by calling (440) 490-2056.

Join us on Thursday, May 30 at 10:30 a.m. for Super Thursday Sock Hop! Cost is $6. Dance to your favorite rock ‘n roll songs from the 1950’s while enjoying drive-in food, complete with milkshakes and root beer floats. RSVP by calling (440) 490-2056 no later than May 28.
 
Lunch & Learn Lunch & Learn: Palliative vs. Hospice Care, May 31
Join us on Friday, May 31 at 12:00 p.m. for Lunch & Learn presented by O'Neill Healthcare. You may have many questions about the differences in these two types of care - Palliative vs. Hospice Care. Hospice can be provided for a variety of illnesses and supports not just the patient, but the family as well, including support after your loved one passes. Palliative care focuses on quality of life for the patient. Register by May 29 by calling (440) 490-2056.
 
Watercolor Class Beginner Watercolor Class
If you would like to learn to paint with watercolors, this beginner class is for you. Karen Staszko, a professional artist with 30 years of experience will provide all the instruction you need — no experience necessary. Students must provide their own supplies, a list will be available at the Senior Center. The cost is $45 for a six-week session: Mondays 2:00-3:30 p.m. on June 3, 10, 17; July 1, 8, 15. Local nonprofit Food Conscious will provide a lunch and cooking demonstration by James Beard award finalist Chef Vinnie Cimino of Cordelia Restaurant in Cleveland on Monday, June 3 at 12:00 p.m. RSVP by May 29 at (440) 490-2056.
 
Yoga My Body and Yoga, the Benefits of Yoga As We Age, June 15
Join Brandy and Kip on June 15 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. for this 90-minute workshop focused on the natural changes our bodies make as we age and how yoga may benefit us. Interact with the instructors about topics including changes in our posture, balance, flexibility and strength. We will then learn yoga poses to help us adapt to these changes. Everyone is welcome and no yoga experience is necessary. Yoga poses will be done using chairs. Dress comfortably and wear walking shoes or something similar. Cost is $10. 
 
Puzzle Competition Puzzle Competition, June 19
Join us for a puzzle competition on Wednesday, June 19 at 2:30 p.m. It’s time to put your puzzle skills to the test. Participants will compete in teams of 3-4 people. Each team gets the same puzzle. It’s a race to see who finishes first. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams. Come as a team or come solo and we will form a team for you. Light refreshments will be provided. Laughter is the best medicine The Best Medicine? with Ted Smith
Did Norman Cousins really laugh himself back to health in the 1960’s? Was it all in his head? Is there any scientific research to explain the Placebo Effect? How do emotions impact our physical health? This seven-part series with Ted Smith, Instructor, will be held on Mondays, April 1 through May 20 at 11:00 a.m. and will explore how Western medicine is coming to grips with the fact that how a patient feels about their condition is a determining factor in recovery. No class April 8.

Senior Fitness Senior Fitness with Kathy Hungerman
Senior Fitness is a new class, with an emphasis on strength, flexibility, posture and falls prevention. 
 
CardioDance CardioDance Sessions
CardioDance offers a great workout to the hits of today and yesterday and is adaptable to a variety of fitness levels. Spring Session I is April 16 through May 21; Summer Session I is May 28 through July 2; and, Summer Session II is July 9 through August 13. All sessions are 9:00-10:00 a.m. Each 6-week session is $36 per person. Payments can be made in cash or check made payable to NR Office for Older Adults and is due by the first class session. Join us for Hobby Hour on April 29 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.; Friday, May 3 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.; and, Friday, June 21 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. for Hobby Hour! Do you knit, crochet, whittle, paint, quilt, Sudoku, word search or any hobby that you can bring to the Senior Center? Join us to chat & __________ (you fill in the blank). Coffee, tea and light snacks provided. You might pick up a new hobby or find others like you.
 
Soups-On Mondays! Soups-On Mondays!
Stop in each Monday at 12:00 PM for a light lunch of one of Clancy's homemade soups and bread for $2. Please RSVP by calling (440) 490-2056 by the previous Friday. 
 
Monday Craft Day Make It Mondays
Everyone is welcome to come on Mondays from 10 AM-2 PM to join in the fun and the making of special crafts. There's a different project each week. 
 
Taco and Trivia Tuesday Taco and Trivia Tuesday!
Taco & Trivia Tuesday is held every first and third Tuesday of the month. Come with a team or form one at the event. Lunch will be served at noon and trivia will start at 12:30 p.m. The cost for lunch is $4. We will make it mild so if you want it spicy, bring your own hot sauce! Please RSVP by Monday at noon if you will be having lunch with us. If you are just joining us for trivia, reservations are not required. Please call the front desk at (440) 490-2056. 
 
The Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club
A monthly social breakfast, open to adults 55 and over is held the second Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. Cost is $4. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by calling (440) 490-2056.
 
Senior Strong Senior Strong
Join us every Friday at 11:00 a.m. for Senior Strong. Senior Strong is a program that focuses on mental health wellness and building resilience in older adults. Bob Piovarchy of The Far West Center will facilitate a different topic each week. One week a month will be dedicated to current events. This is not a session, please register for the days you wish to attend.
 
Total Foot Care Foot Clinic
Dr. Thomas Emmert, Podiatrist of Total Foot Care, will be at the Center on May 15, 2024 at 8 AM. Appointments are on a first come first served basis by signing in at the front desk upon your arrival. If this is your first visit with the doctor, it is recommended that you contact Dr. Emmert's office at 216-529-1800 to insure they have the necessary information.  The cost of the clinic is usually covered by Medicare and supplemental insurance.  
 
Chair Yoga Chair Yoga with Kip Cronk
Chair Yoga is perfect for all ages and abilities, no experience is necessary. There are a spring session and summer session planned.
 
Tai Chi Tai Chi for Balance and Arthritis
Sign up for Tai Chi for Balance and Arthritis. Tai Chi for Balance and Arthritis is a program designed to reduce your likelihood of falling, stop the fear of falling cycle, and improve your activity levels and health in a short period of time.

Cardio Drumming is quickly growing in popularity and we are excited to offer this class.
 
Carnival Carnival!
The annual summer carnival is back. Join us on June 27, 2024 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. We will have a number of community partners with favorite carnival games to play for chances to win a variety of prizes. Fun fair foods will also be available. Cost is only $5 and includes all your game play, food and unlimited chances for prizes. Make your reservation by calling (440) 490-2056 no later than June 26.
 
Chair Volleyball Chair Volleyball
Join us for a spirited game of chair volleyball on May 10 at 10:30 a.m.; May 13, June 10 and June 24 at 12:45 p.m. We will divide into teams and let the fun begin. Games will be held outdoors when the weather permits. No prior experience necessary!
 
Line Dancing Line Dancing with Mary Harwood
Line Dancing with Mary Harwood every Wednesday from 10-11 AM at the Safetyville Building. Get your heart pumping and your feet moving. This guided dance session is for beginner and intermediate dancers. Bring dancing shoes and a water bottle. Cost: $6 at the door.
 
Free Blood Pressure Screening Blood Pressure Checks
Blood pressure checks are available on the first Wednesday of every month from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM. Please stop in and see our lovely volunteer nurses. If you have your blood pressure logs or cards please bring them with you. 
 
The Book Nook Book Nook
Be sure to check out our updated Magazine & Book Nook Library, offering books and magazines for reading. Feel free to take something home, just return it when you are done.

Midweek social is a lot of fun with lunch, cards and/or bingo!  On Wednesdays come at 11:45 AM for a delicious hot lunch served at noon to include an entrée, dessert and beverage for $5. Reservations are required by calling (440) 490-2056 by noon on Tuesday.

Canasta Canasta & Euchre Anyone?
If you are interested in joining the fun group that meets on Wednesdays for an afternoon of fellowship and fun from 12:30-4:00 PM, please call (440) 490-2056. 
 
Euchre Euchre and Pinochle Weekly Card Games and Dominos, too!
Euchre, pinochle and dominos meet on Thursdays from Noon until 4 PM.  Join in the fun each week. Please RSVP by calling the Senior Center at (440) 490-2056. 
Mahjongg Mahjongg Meets Every Thursday

“Mahjongg” is an Ancient Chinese Tile Game. This group meets every Thursday at 12 noon (except on Super Thursdays) and always welcomes new members. If you've never played, we offer instruction as to how to play the game. A player's card is required for a small fee.

 
Painting Watercolors Wednesdays
Are you interested in art or just enjoy painting freestyle?  Our art enthusiasts gather for painting and fun on Wednesday mornings and would love to have you join their group. If interested, just bring your paints and stop by the Community Cabin at South Central Park any Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM-noon. Please RSVP by calling the Senior Center at (440) 490-2056.
 
Golden Buckeye Golden Buckeye Card Information
Participation in the Golden Buckeye program is free to all Ohio residents who are: age 60 or over; age 18-59 with a Social Security Administration defined disability. 
 
Puzzle Puzzle Exchange
The Senior Center will be hosting Puzzle Exchange the last Tuesday of each month from 11 AM-1:00 PM. Puzzled by what to do with those completed puzzles? Bring your stack of completed puzzles (limit of 3) and exchange with others or you are welcome to take as many as you'd like.
