Board of Drainage and Flood Control

Board of Drainage and Flood Control consists of thirteen members elected as follows:

1) Eight members of the general public who shall be residents of the City at the time of their appointment and remain so during their service, two members from each ward. Each Ward Council Member shall appoint two representatives from their ward to serve on the Board of Drainage and Flood Control.
2) One member representing the Administration, as selected by the Mayor.
3) Four members, three of whom shall be members of Council, who shall be the Chairperson of the Building and Lands Committee, the Utilities Committee and the Streets, Sidewalk and Bridges Committee, as appointed by the President of Council, and one member who shall be a liaison from the Board of Zoning and Building Appeals.

Purpose of the Committee

The purposes for which the Board of Drainage and Flood Control is established are as follows:

a. To provide information to citizens on flood prevention and control;
b. To promote legislation on the flooding;
c. To act as a standing board for federal and state grants and as the standing committee for Water Quality and Storm Water Management in compliance with federal and state regulations.
d. To analyze flood data and recommend appropriate action;
e. To assist Council and the administration regarding drainage and flooding issues;
f. To perform any and all other purposes incident thereto.

The Board of Drainage and Flood Control shall meet and report to Council and the administration at least once each calendar quarter.
