Welcome to the North Ridgeville Office for Older Adults (Senior Center) where all our "Young at Heart" seniors gather for an abundance of activities! We offer delicious low-cost meals, plenty of smiling faces, and and activity to suit any personality. Senior Reading Buddies Senior Reading Buddies, July 25, 2019
Senior Reading Buddies is a 60-minute program combining shared reading, a craft, bingo and cookies. Each senior will be paired with one or two school-age buddies to assist them in practicing their reading skills. Join the North Ridgeville Branch Library and the North Ridgeville Parks and Recreation Summer Camp. The program will take place at the Senior Center on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 1-2:00 PM. Produce Stand Produce Stand Tour, July 25, 2019
Join us on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:30 AM on our tour to Gerhart's Garden, Butternut Farms and Willie's Farm Market. Transportation will be provided and depart from the Senior Center. Produce "bucks" will be given to all participants to be used to purchase produce, redeemable at the produce stands. To RSVP please call (440) 353-0828 to register, limited spots available.  
Healthy Strides Healthy Strides: A Cleveland Clinic Program
Healthy Strides combines a casual 30-minute walk, preceded by a brief informative talk by local health professionals and city officials. All members of the community are welcome. Program is free to attend with no pre-registration needed. In case of inclement weather, walks will be cancelled for the evening. Cancellations will be posted on the Parks & Recreation Department webpage and facebook page. Program will run for 12 consecutive Thursdays beginning June 13 through August 29, 2019 from 6-7 PM (no walk on 7/4/2019).  Meet at Pavilion 1 at South Central Park, 7565 Avon Belden Road.  
Family Feud Friendly Feud, July 30, 2019
Come and have loads of fun playing an adaptation of the popular TV show Family Feud at the Senior Center on July 30, 2019 from 1-2:30 PM. Groups are welcome, if you don't have a group one will be matched up.  Please RSVP to (440) 353-0828. 
Produce Produce Stand Tours with Lorain County MetroParks
On August 22, 2019 at 10 AM tour Gerhart's Garden, Butternut Farms, Willie's Farm Market and Black River Metro Park.  Then, on September 26 at 10 AM tour Gerhart's Garden, Butternut Farms, Willie's Farm Market and French Creek Metro Park.  Transportation for both dates will leave from Senior Center and head to the park for a nice walk and free picnic lunch before heading to the produce stands. Produce bucks will be provided and sponsored by North Ridgeville Heart & Sole. Limited spots available - call (440) 353-0828 to register.

walking challenge Summer Walking Challenge Kick-Off Event, August 23, 2019
It's time to get ready to compete against the other area Senior Centers at UH St. John Medical Center's Walking and Wellness Challenge! Walking will take place from September 5 to October 17 - walk by yourself or in a group, anywhere you want.  If interested, attend the free informational luncheon on Friday, August 23 at 11:30 AM at the Senior Center. This is a complimentary luncheon for those interested in getting more information and being on the North Ridgeville team!  Call 440-353-0828 to make  your reservation.   
Young at Heart Young at Heart Brunch, August 29, 2019
Young at Heart Brunch program featuring "Summer Time" with John Kowalski playing the piano and singing the favorites will take place on August 29, 2019 from 10:30-11:30 AM. Morning brunch will consist of egg muffin with sauce and croissant, fruit, juice and coffee for $3.  Please call 440-353-0828 to reserve your spot by August 27, 2019. 
Field Day Senior Field Day & Picnic, August 30, 2019
Remember the egg and spoon race, ring toss, picnic basket toss and more?! We invite all to join us for an afternoon of recreation, enjoying games from the past and present! Start the morning off on August 30, 2019 at South Central Park - Pavilion 1 at 10 AM for games and finish with a picnic lunch at noon with awards to the winners. Dr. Thomas Emmert, Podiatrist of Total Foot Care, will offer a Foot Clinic at the Senior Center on July 10 and August 7, 2019 between 8-11:00 AM. Patients are seen on a first-come, first-serve basis.  If it is your first visit, please contact Dr. Emmert's office at 216-529-1800 to insure they have the necessary information.  
Music Bingo Music Bingo 2019
Save these dates on your calendar:  August 28, and October 23
Looking for a fun afternoon? Come and play Music Bingo with Ken or Jack of Music Bingo Ohio. This is a fun way to play bingo. They provide bingo sheets with song titles and you have to match the song when it is played to form a bingo for prizes! Very similar to “Name That Tune”, but you already have the title on the bingo sheet! Plan on coming for a delicious lunch served at noon for $4.00 and stay for bingo! Reservations required for lunch by calling 440-353-0828. 
 
Car Show 15th Annual Car Show and Men's Breakfast
The annual car show and men's breakfast will take place on September 5, 2019 from 9-10:30 AM. Breakfast is a hot entree, fruit, juice and coffee for $3. Registered cars will arrive 8:15-8:45 AM and participant voting on the top three from 9:30-10 AM. Scavenger Hunt Scavenger Hunt, September 20, 2019
Join us on September 20, 2019 from 10-11:30 AM on a fun adventure walking South Central Park looking for items along the path to find from pictures provided.  Meet at South Central Park at 10 AM near Pavilion 1; players can be individuals or partner up.  Prizes to the top two finishers. Wii Sports Wii Sports
Wii Sports is coming to the Senior Center.  An organizational gathering and demonstration will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 12:30 PM.  Games will begin on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 12:30-2 PM and continue every Monday. All are welcome; you may form teams and register as a team. If individual, you will be placed into a blind draw team. Call the Senior Center at (440) 353-0828 to register.

Participation in the Golden Buckeye program is free to all Ohio residents who are: age 60 or over; age 18-59 with a Social Security Administration defined disability.  
Line Dancing Classes image Line Dancing Classes
Ronna Murray and her line dancing classes are in full swing on Tuesdays. Beginners meet from 11:50 AM-12:50 PM and Intermediate group steps off from 1:00 PM-2:00 PM.  Cost is $25 for a six-week session and can be paid at the first lesson. 
Senior Yoga image Senior Yoga
Instruction is provided by a certified Yoga instructor, Midori Sato. Yoga helps one achieve a healthy balance of mind, body, spirit and also improve your coordination, flexibility and to stay healthy. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 10:40-11:45 AM. Are you interested in art or just enjoy painting freestyle?  Our watercolor enthusiasts gather for painting and fun on Wednesday mornings and would love to have you join their group. If interested, just bring your paints and stop by the Senior Center any Wednesday morning from 9:30 AM-12:00 PM.

If you are interested in joining the fun group that meets on Wednesdays for an afternoon of fellowship and fun from 1-4 PM, please call Shelly at (440) 353-0835.  
Exercise Classes Every Monday image Exercise Classes Every Monday
Join Fitness Instructor, Diane Mehlman, for weekly exercise classes on Mondays from 9-9:45 AM. All exercises can be done to meet your ability and strengths. All participants will need a set of 2 or 3 pound weights, stretch bands and a bottle of water. Cost is $32/six weeks. First class is free - stop in and try it!  Session 1: June 24, July 1, 8, 15, 22, 29; Session 2: August 5, 12, 19, 26 and September 9, 16 (no class 9/2); Session 3: September 23, 30 and October 7, 14, 21, and 28.

Everyone is welcome to come on Mondays from 10 AM-2 PM to join in the fun, fellowship and the making of special crafts. Bring your ideas or share in ours. A soup lunch including beverage is available for $.35 at noon. 
Euchre and Pinochle Weekly Card Games image Euchre and Pinochle Weekly Card Games
Cards are played on Thursdays at 12 noon except on Super Thursdays when all card games begin at 1:30 PM. Join in the fun each week from noon until 4 PM.  Refreshments will be served. 
Mahjongg Meets Every Thursday image Mahjongg Meets Every Thursday

“Mahjongg” is an Ancient Chinese Tile Game. This group meets every Thursday at 12 noon (except on Super Thursdays) and always welcomes new members. 

 
Tai-Chi Every Tuesday image Tai-Chi Every Tuesday

Come join us for our Balance Tai-Chi every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. Tai-Chi uses movements to improve balance and will focus on strengthening muscles of the ankles, knees, hips and legs which will increase flexibility and coordination. The Senior Center will be hosting Puzzle Exchange the last Tuesday of each month from 11 AM-12:00 PM. 
Blood Pressure Checks image Blood Pressure Checks
Walk in and have your blood pressure checked by one of our friendly retired volunteer nurses on the 3rd Wednesday of each month between 10 AM-noon at the Senior Center. The is no charge for this service and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
