In response to the increasing number of Hyundai vehicles being targeted by thieves the company has started rolling out a free anti-theft software upgrade that prevents certain Hyundai vehicles from being started in ways recently popularized on social media channels. Until you can get this upgrade Hyundai Motors USA has provided the North Ridgeville Police Department free steering wheel locks to distribute to local residents. If you own or lease a Hyundai vehicle that was produced prior to November 2021 that has a key ignition it may not have the necessary engine immobilizer that deters vehicle thieves. If you live in North Ridgeville and own a Hyundai, please come to the police station with proof of ownership to claim your free steering wheel lock.
