Root Road to Close at Center Ridge Road June 24, 2019

The City, in conjunction with ODOT and Fechko Excavating, made a difficult decision to close Root Road at Center Ridge Road until the start of the new school year. The closure will begin Monday, June 24, 2019 with a detour route erected before the closure. When school reopens, the "new" Root Road will open to southbound traffic only until the completion of the bridge. This decision was based on the current utility delay with the duct bank that runs under Center Ridge Road and down the eastern side of Root Road to a utility pole. Several poles had to be installed to raise these lines in order to demo the existing bridge. This will save the project with unnecessary cost in temporary pavement just to connect the new temporary pavement that will be installed per plan with the existing pavement. The difference in grade change between the two will maintain traffic safely.
