9th Annual Cops Ride, June 25, 2017

9th ANNUAL COPS RIDE SUNDAY, JUNE 25 WILL HONOR OHIO’S FALLEN LAW ENFORCEMENT

On Sunday June 25, 2017, the 9th Annual Cops Ride Ceremony will be held at 10:30 AM at the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial located at the corner of West 3rd and Lakeside, with Monica Robins of WKYC as the Master of Ceremonies. The purpose of the Cops Ride is to honor and remember Ohio’s Fallen Officers and speaking during the Ceremony will be Linda Brentar, widow and survivor of Euclid Police Officer George M Brentar, Badge #93, whose Watch Ended on October 10, 2007 in a car accident on I-90 while pursuing a speeder. He was the father of two boys aged 14 and 11. Additionally speaking will be Joe Manion, President of the Greater Cleveland Peace Officers Memorial Society and Deputy Chief of Home Land Security Edward Tomba of the Cleveland Police.

As in past years the 10:30 AM Ceremony is open to the public and will honor and remember our nations One Hundred and Thirty-Five (135) Fallen Law Enforcement Officers during calendar year 2016, including the following five Fallen Officers from Ohio:

Officer Thomas Wayne Cottrell, Jr – Danville Police Department- EOW January 17, 2016

Officer Steven Michael Smith- Columbus Division of Police- EOW April 12, 2016

Officer Sean Richard Johnson- Hilliard Division of Police- EOW May 19, 2016

Trooper Kenneth V Velez- Ohio State Highway Patrol- EOW- September 15, 2016

Patrolman Aaron Jackson Christian- Chesapeake Police Department- EOW October 18, 2016

In addition, K9 Jethro -Canton Police Department- EOW January 10, 2016

It is anticipated that approximately five hundred (500) motorcyclists will attend the Ceremony and will join in a police escort processional ride, after the Ceremony, to honor the Fallen Officers that will begin at the Cleveland Police Memorial and travel through Cleveland, Brooklyn, Fairview Park, North Olmsted, North Ridgeville, Grafton, Brunswick Hills, Medina Twp. and conclude at Stinger Harley Davidson in Medina for food and entertainment. Registrations are still available for $25 at the following locations:

Riders and passengers can register downtown the morning of the June 25th Ceremony and Ride.
