Abandoned Gas Station Program Update
The city of North Ridgeville has been awarded a second $250,000 grant through the State of Ohio’s Abandoned Gas Station Program to address contamination at the southwest corner of the intersection of Center Ridge Road and Avon Belden Road. This land was the site of a former gas station and hardware store with underground fuel tanks that were removed as part of the road widening project. The first grant was awarded in 2022. Work began with testing and assessment activities to determine the scope of remediation that would be required. The city’s Remedial Action Plan was approved by the State of Ohio in late 2023 and on-site remediation began in spring 2024. The second grant award will allow remediation activities to continue through to completion of the project.
