Abandoned Gas Station Program Update - Lane Closures

In the summer of 2022, North Ridgeville was awarded a $250,000 grant through the State of Ohio’s Abandoned Gas Station Program to conduct assessment and provide corrective action related to contamination at the southwest corner of the intersection of Center Ridge Road and Avon Belden Road. This land was the site of a former gas station and hardware store with underground fuel tanks that were removed as part of the road widening project.

The city’s consultant will be proceeding with a second remediation in order to treat petroleum contaminated soil and ground water at the site between May 13 and May 17, 2024. Some of the work will take place within the Center Ridge Road right-of-way, resulting in partial lane closures. On Wednesday, May 15 from approximately 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., the eastbound lane on Center Ridge at SR 83 will be closed. Drivers traveling eastbound on Center Ridge will not be able to access SR 83 southbound during this time. Suggested alternate route, take Maddock Road to Sugar Ridge Road to SR 83. Signage will be in place alerting drivers of this work.

See the site map below showing the impacted area.
