New Police Station Opens March 18, 2024

The new North Ridgeville Police Station will be fully operational on Monday, March 18. All personnel will be relocated from the station attached to City Hall to the newly constructed facility at 7070 Ranger Way.

Voters approved a bond issue for the construction of the $11.2 million facility in November 2021. Construction of the new 21,458 square foot police station began in early 2023 and was recently completed. Department staff have been hard at work moving in to their new space and preparing to make the transition between buildings as smooth as possible. The North Ridgeville Police Department consists of 41 full-time officers and eight civilian employees who will be based out of the new station.

“The opening of the police station is is a great day for the North Ridgeville community,” said Mayor Kevin Corcoran. “I am grateful that our residents saw the need to expand and improve facilities for our law enforcement officers who help keep our growing community safe.”

Police Chief Mike Freeman said safety and security was a high priority at the new station. “This building has important safety features including the design of the jail and interview rooms, controlled access, security cameras, radio improvements and system redundancy,” said Freeman. “Better technology and equipment upgrades will create greater efficiency in our operations which will give us the ability to solve more crimes.”

The police station was constructed between Fire Station #1 and the Public Works Department on Ranger Way. Geography was an important consideration, according to Freeman. “Our new location puts us at the door step of the North Ridgeville Academic Center and High School.”

Freeman also shared that the new campus will allow all operations, equipment and records to be housed in one place. A new 7,800 square foot pre-engineered metal storage building will be used for evidence processing, training, found property, gear storage and will provide a temporary home for lost dogs.

A ribbon cutting and open house will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The entire North Ridgeville community is invited to attend the event. After the ceremonial ribbon cutting at 11:00 a.m., attendees can enjoy building tours, food trucks, police vehicles and demonstrations and more.
