Parks and Recreation Enhances Park Safety with New AEDs
Thanks to the recent passage of Ohio House Bill 47, the North Ridgeville Parks and Recreation Department has taken another important step toward enhancing safety and preparedness across the city’s park system.

As part of its ongoing commitment to community well-being, the department budgeted for the purchase of an additional Automated External Defibrillator (AED) along with outdoor AED cabinets, ensuring that life-saving equipment is more accessible to residents and visitors in the event of a cardiac emergency.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve safety in our parks,” said Kevin M. Fougerousse, Director of Parks and Recreation. “Having AEDs readily available can make a critical difference in an emergency.”

Even better, these efforts were further supported through external funding. The department applied for an AED grant and is proud to announce it has received funding to help cover the cost of the new equipment.

“This grant helps us expand access to essential emergency tools without placing the entire cost burden on the city,” said Fougerousse. “It’s a win for everyone who enjoys our parks.” The new equipment will be installed at the Shady Drive Complex and South Central Park.

The addition of this AED and accompanying cabinets builds on the city’s larger goal of promoting safe, inclusive and well-equipped public spaces for all to enjoy.
