Chestnut Ridge Road and Alternate State Route 83 Roundabout - Road Closure

Chagrin Valley Paving, Inc. was awarded the contract to install a three legged roundabout at the intersection of Chestnut Ridge Road and Alternate State Route 83 to address AM and PM peak hour traffic congestion. The original Concept Plan found below closely depicts the final design.

In order to facilitate the work as efficiently as possible, a road closure will be in place at the intersection for approximately 90 days.  The road closure will begin Monday, April 26, 2021.  For the traveling public proceeding eastbound, Durkee Road to Butternut Ridge shall be used and for the westbound traffic, SR 83 to Butternut Ridge shall be used – see Detour Plan below.  

In addition to the pavement work, improvements will include lighting, landscaping, traffic control and stormwater features.  Upon completion of the project, there will also be a drive and parking area on the north side of the roundabout to access the Community Garden.  During the interim of the project, a temporary drive and parking will be provided to the west of the project limits along Chestnut Ridge Road for access to the Community Garden.

Work is scheduled to start the week of April 12, 2021 and be complete by the end of July.  All work is scheduled weather permitting.
