Construction of the City’s much anticipated “peanut-shaped” roundabout project at the intersection of Stoney Ridge Road, Mills Road and Avalon Drive is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 9, 2024. During the first eight (8) days of construction, the northbound lane on Stoney Ridge Road from Rummel Mill Drive to Mills Road will be closed every Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. The northbound lane will re-open daily outside of these restricted hours. During the first eight (8) days of construction, Stoney Ridge Road will remain open to southbound traffic only.
Beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, a full closure of the intersection will be in effect for an additional 90 days. During this time, motorists will not be able to access Mills Road or Avalon Drive from Stoney Ridge Road, nor be able to access Stoney Ridge Road from Mills Road or Avalon Drive.
The posted detour will be as follows:
Northbound traffic should travel eastbound on Center Ridge Road, then northbound on State Route 83, then westbound on Detroit Road back to Stoney Ridge Road.
Southbound traffic should travel eastbound on Detroit Road, then southbound on State Route 83, then westbound on Center Ridge Road back to Stoney Ridge Road.
Avalon Drive will be closed at Stoney Ridge Road. Motorists wanting to get to Stoney Ridge Road will need to utilize Otten Road.
