Chestnut Ridge Road Bridge Replacement Project To Begin September 16

The Lorain County Engineer’s Office has engaged Great Lakes Demolition Company to replace the Chestnut Ridge Road bridge over the Dixon Ditch, just east of the Root Road intersection. The project involves the removal of the existing structure and replacement with a new bridge to include new sidewalk, waterline relocation and other site improvements. The project is anticipated to begin and the road will be closed on Monday, September 16 for a period of 75 days. To preserve emergency access to Rachel Lane and Halle Circle in the case of a train blockage at Chestnut Ridge Road, the city has installed a temporary gravel access drive from Root Road for emergency vehicle use only. The city and Lorain County acknowledge the disruption this project will create for area residents. The county, city and contractor will work closely together to ensure this necessary infrastructure work is completed as quickly as possible.
