America 250-OH

America 250-OH
What is America 250?
On July 4, 2026, our nation will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. This historic milestone offers an opportunity to reflect on our shared past, honor the contributions of all Americans and look ahead to the future we want to create for generations to come.

Communities across the country are planning celebrations, projects and reflections as part of this national observance. Established by Congress in 2016, the U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission was charged with designing the most inclusive anniversary in our nation’s history—one that recognizes the diverse stories and collective progress that define America.

North Ridgeville’s Role in America 250
As Ohio prepares for this once-in-a-lifetime celebration, the City of North Ridgeville proudly joins communities across the state in commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. North Ridgeville’s history reflects the values that helped shape our nation—hard work, innovation and community spirit.

The State of Ohio formally established America 250-Ohio (AM250-OH) through the Ohio Revised Code §149.309, charging the Commission “to plan, encourage, develop and coordinate the commemoration of the two-hundred-fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United States and the impact of Ohioans on the nation’s past, present and future.”

North Ridgeville’s participation aligns with that vision—celebrating local history, engaging residents and showcasing the people and places that define our city’s character.
How North Ridgeville Will Celebrate?
Planning is underway for a series of special events and community collaborations for this 2026 milestone. The city is working with local organizations, schools, civic groups and historians to put the finishing touches on a yearlong celebration that aims to:
  • Highlight North Ridgeville’s heritage through exhibits
  • Host community events that celebrate unity and civic pride
  • Encourage resident participation through various programs and volunteer opportunities
  • Collaborate with America 250-Ohio partners to share Ridgeville’s story statewide
In 2026, the State of Ohio has designated a unique theme for each month. North Ridgeville will coordinate its local programming to align with these monthly themes, connecting our community to the broader narrative being shared across the state.

Events taking place throughout Ohio can be found on the America 250-Ohio Events Calendar, which features celebrations, exhibits and educational programs happening all year long.

Details for North Ridgeville’s events will continue to develop as the city’s America 250 planning committee finalizes programming. See the Calendar of Events page.
Celebration in the Making
North Ridgeville’s America 250 plans are taking shape as we work with local partners to design meaningful experiences for residents and visitors.

Stay tuned for updates as we prepare to honor our country’s anniversary and celebrate what’s happening in our community.
