Council Corner for December

So you REALLY want to know? Read how this creative young man determined his value:
A little boy went to a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits (phone numbers).
The interested store owner observed and listened to the conversation:
BOY: “Lady, can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?”
WOMAN: (at the other end of the phone line): “I already have someone to cut my lawn.”
BOY: “Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now.”
WOMAN: “I’m very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting my lawn.”
BOY: (with more perseverance): “Lady, I’ll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of Palm Beach, Florida.”
WOMAN: “No, thank you.”
With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The storeowner, who was listening to all of this, walked over to the boy.
STORE OWNER: “Son…I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job.”
BOY: “No thanks.”
STORE OWNER: “But I just listened to you. You were really pleading for a job.”
BOY: “No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already have. I am the one who is working for the lady I was talking to!”
This is what I call, “Self Appraisal”.
I believe “Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it.” And as such, why not autograph your work with excellence.” Your City Council and Administration want to know what will make our signature stand out!
Therefore I have created an Anonymous survey on line for you, the residents, that will enable you to share your feelings and insights with your elected officials. I believe this is the FIRST time this has ever been attempted in North Ridgeville! We genuinely want to know how we can do our best job in serving you. In addition to our Council meetings, letters to the editor or personal outreach to your City leaders, you now have an additional avenue to tell us.
My wife has told me for years, “don’t ask the question unless you’re ready for the answer.” Well, we want your answers!
Here is how you do it: Simply type this URL address (http://tinyurl.com/p29j834) into your computer browser and take the short survey. It will take less than 90 seconds. Tell us what you think…remember to share the good as well as the frustrations. You have until January 3rd 2015 at 3 P.M. Eastern Time to complete the survey to have your comments included in the results. When all the data has been collated I intend to share a summary of the collective brilliance provided by you and our residents. I will communicate the survey responses to your City Council and Administration. And, if the Press Light will help, I want to share this information with you the residents. Your ideas will be helpful as we plan our Appropriations at the beginning of the New Year.

Anonymous does not entitle you to be hateful or destructive, it does however offer you the opportunity to share your concerns as well as offer up constructive and valuable SOLUTIONS to make our city of North Ridgeville, THE city of choice in which to live and raise our families.
