Sugar Ridge Road To Close for Westfield Plant Decommissioning, Water and Sewer Extension Project (Revised 9-20-2019)

 

This project will be installing approximately 3,500 linear feet of twelve (12) inch sanitary sewer from Waterbury Boulevard (aka Shady Drive) along Sugar Ridge Road proceeding east for about 2,000 feet and then heading south to the existing Westfield Drive Wastewater Treatment Plant.  This project also includes approximately 1,900 linear feet of eight (8) inch waterline from Sugar Ridge Road to Westfield Drive.  Ancillary improvements include the full depth partial replacement and resurfacing of Sugar Ridge Road within the project limits, restoration of roadside amenities, and drive aprons disturbed during construction.  Provisions in the construction documents also provide sanitary laterals with cleanouts to property owners along the sanitary extension for future abandonment of septic systems.  

 

Starting today Underground Utilities, Inc. will begin preparing the subbase for the upcoming asphalt operations for Sugar Ridge Road. In order to facilitate this work they will have to close Sugar Ridge Road from Waterbury Blvd. to Maddock Road. The Waterbury Blvd. intersection is currently closed but will tentatively be opened up on Monday, September 23. Local trafficwill have access to Line Drive from either direction. Thru access from Maddock Road to Sugar Ridge Road to SR 83 and vice versa will be maintained. Asphalt pavement operations are expected to begin Thursday, September 26th and run through October 1st. Sugar Ridge Road is expected to be open to thru traffic on October 2, 2019.

 

This work is expected to be complete (weather permitting) by mid-October. Updates will be given as construction progresses.
