North Ridgeville Honored As A Healthy Community

City of North Ridgeville honored as a Healthy Community

The Ohio Department of Health’s (ODH) Bureau of Creating Healthy Communities awarded the City of North Ridgeville the 2016 Healthy Community Award. Only thirteen other cities were honored with the Healthy Community Award this year.

North Ridgeville Heart and Sole, a community collaborative active since 2014, contributes to North Ridgeville’s success by taking steps to make the healthy choice the easy choice for the city’s residents. The collaborative has made it easier for residents to make healthy choices by adding healthy options to school and park concession stands, assisting the city with passing a tobacco-free policy, making fresh fruits and vegetables accessible to all, and by continuing to increase the walkability and bikeability of the community.

“Our City is proud to be recognized for our efforts in creating a healthy community,” said Mayor G. David Gillock. “We are honored to be a model for other Ohio communities.”
