Many homeowners wish to install lawn sprinklers or lawn irrigation systems to water their grass. The city offers a ""second meter"" or a Sewer Deduct Meter which can be purchased at the Utilities Department for a cost of $183.00. The meter will monitor only the water usage for the irrigation system and outside faucets without the sewer charges that are standard on the Utility billing.
There is a permit required from the Building Department for both the second meter and the lawn irrigation system. A rough plumbing inspection is required, once the piping is ready, before the meter can be installed and a final inspection is required for the irrigation system. A backflow test report is required to be provided to the City Engineering Department before or at the final inspection.
