Pools are a great way to stay cool in the summer, but they also pose several safety issues that require attention.
Unless your pool is less than 18"" high, less than 12' diameter and less than 100 square feet you must obtain a permit.
A pool that is over 18"" high and 12' diameter must have a fence or fenced yard around the pool.
If the pool is over 4' in height a retractable or lockable ladder is allowed in lieu of a fence..
Pools that will use pumps for circulation, etc. have electrical code requirements that can be complicated; we strongly recommend hiring a qualified, registered electrical contractor for this work. We have created a drawing to assist you or your contractor with the code requirements for the electrical work. It is included in the application package.
